Dale’s youth team overcome Carlisle United in a 2-0 win up at Rossendale on 10th March 2010. Dale’s goals were scored by Oliver Devenney in the 20th minute by a cross from Josh Brizell and Oliver volleyed the ball 12yds, and Josh Brizell in the 70th minute with some attacking interplay with him scooting home outside of his foot. We caught up with Chris Beech who gave his views on the game “good positive response to improve from Saturday’s performance levels to reach higher standards today. Pitch was very poor, very bobbly and with our philosophy to play and enjoy the ball it makes the concentration levels higher as we still have these demands on the players yet they have to deal with the pitch and the opposition. Callum Byrne again another exceptional game with his composure, vision and quality along with Oliver Devenney on trial netting his 5th goal in 5 games. Special praise for Josh Brizell who recently trained in a Northern Ireland get together at Lilleshall U19 and netted his 3rd goal in 2 games to take his tally to 11 goals all from the position of right/left back. Tremendous attitude to attack with and without the ball and at pace with high end product value yet needs attacks against to a minimum as he deals with 1 v 1 very well.
