Youth Team Update

Dale’s youth team had a 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley on Saturday 12th December 2009 over at Hopwood.

Dale’s goal were scored by Laurie Bell and the second goal was an own goal after 90 minutes plus.

We caught up with boss Chris Beech who gave his views on the game “a difficult game played at Hopwood with a quick reminder that taking liberties do bite you on the backside in this sport. A poor start falling behind in 30 seconds with players forgetting the basics to deal with playing football.

With little in response to the goal and standards not being met throughout the game until the last 20 minutes of the game, today was a difficult day at the office. Players have received good and positive praise this season for some tremendous football and results but today following the last 20 minutes at Aston Villa the older players need to take more responsibility along with 1st years wanting to progress.

Jordan Andrews was off colour yet kept us in the game with a penalty save and we did apply pressure which seen us force an own goal well into injury time, with no flow, lack of desire and poor decision. Were making the players train on Sunday to find our direction and get back on track. Friday’s training was very poor and so was our performance today, back to basics in all aspects on and off the pitch will help us recover quickly.

Dale: J Andrews, J Brizell, T Buckley, C Byrne, M Roche, C Brown, J Tinker, L Bell, R Gray, D Sherriff, T Bentham, J Dale (50), L Murray (20), J Mehmet, S Minihan, H Andre (56).
