Dale’s youth team played Aston Villa FC in the FA Youth Cup, Round 3 on Wednesday 9th December 2009, there were some excellent football played, but unfortunately, Dale were defeated 4-0. We catch up with boss Chris Beech who gives his views on the game “No doubt on the night the better team won. I would like to congratulate our team for reaching this stage of the competition and wish Aston Villa well as they played very well and must fancy there chances reaching the later stages. We appreciate their hospitality on the night too. From our point of view, two or three players, the game was too big for them in their development but two or three performed to our expectations. Scott Hogan and Dennis Sherriff played well with Danny Taberner topping the list with an assured performance in goal. Danny Taberner needs special praise as his grandfather sadly passed away on the morning of the game and Danny Taberner still asked to play and he would have made his Grandad proud with a performance like that at Villa Park. We need to concentrate now on pushing on our second years to gain professional contracts and react positively to these experiences. Dale: D Taberner, J Brizell, T Buckley, R Benjamin, M Roche, C Brown, S Hogan, C Byrne, R Gray, D Sherriff, H Andre, T Bentham (82), J Andrews, L Bell (55), J Dale, L Murray (55). 11/12/2009 13:03:06 | |
