Youth Team Update
Dale’s youth team played Preston North End on Saturday 21st November, unfortunately, dale was defeated 3-0, and we catch up with boss Chris Beech who gave his statement on the game.

Chris Beech says ‘having not played competitively for 17 days since we beat Congleton Town, today was always going to be difficult facing a very strong Preston Team. For the youth team this week has been very productive with Daniel Anderson now back in light training after spending 18 months out, Tony Ellis passing his UEFA ‘A’ badge and two scholars travelling for a top of the table clash at first team level, it ended on a very a very sour note today. Ten minutes prior to kick off our inform striker Reece Gray was rushed to hospital in a freak incident following a high kick off team mate Liam Murray for a head wound, through all pre-match preparation into ciaos. Liam couldn’t reset and now we started the game with three of our U16 players in a different shape to what we had worked on.

With certain individuals responding well to the challenge, not all teammates followed. Preston thoroughly deserved their victory with a strong professional performance, we let ourselves down especially as in the previous two games this season you could argue we were unfortunate to have not won both, but it is in the past now and with a tough challenge ahead on Wednesday at Boundary park V Oldham Athletic Football Club, FA Youth Cup, Round 2, I am looking forward to having a stronger squad to pick from and put great determination, effort and skill into a challenging encounter. Jordan Andrews our U16 goalkeeper deserves credit today for some outstanding saves.

Dale: Andrews, Hogan, Buckley, Benjamin, Roche, Fagbola, Sherriff, Murray, Abadaki, Byrne, Andre, Tinker (57), Bell (30), Walker, Watson.
