Dale’s youth team played Congleton Town in the 1st round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday 4th November, which was an excellent performance and ended in a 3-0 win. Dale’s goals for the youth team were scored by Chris Brown (4), Scott Hogan (36) and Reece Gray (66) capping off a performance which boss Chris Beech thought was excellent. We caught up with Chris Beech who gave his views on the game “Fantastic Achievement to be in round 2 of this FA Youth Cup for a second year running. I am sure that this has not happened here for a long time, on a really heavy wet pitch, we played some very good football and the lads handled the potential banana skin tie very well. Congleton worked hard and were encouraged from the sidelines from start to finish; it was a fantastic achievement for them to be in this tie this being their fourth game in the competition. Good quality goals and with more conviction in our finishing we could of scored more. Congleton’s goalkeeper deserves praise for his second half performance. A clean sheet and nine goals in our last two games, we look forward to the next tie. Well Done. PS: I am very pleased to announce we have offered Godwin Abadaki a Youth Scholarship for next season. I am sure he will be the first from many of our U16’s team. Dale: Taberner, Brizell, Buckley, Benjamin, Roche, Brown, Hogan, Byrne, Gray, Sherriff, Andre, Abadaki (75), Dale, Bell (75), Murray (60), Tinker. 06/11/2009 15:06:33 | |
