Centre of Excellence Newsletter Friday 16th October 2009 Fixtures for Sunday 18th October 2009 U9/U11/U13/U15 v Carlisle United (A) 09:45am Meet at Frenchfields – see attached directions 10:45am Kick off – matches to be played on grass NB U9/U11 will be 8 v 8 U10/U12/U14/U16 v Carlisle United (H) 09:30am Meet at Castle Irwell Student Village – see directions in handbook 10:30am Kick off – matches to be played on grass NB U10 will be 8 v 8 Fixtures for Sunday 25th October 2009 Please note that arrangements have been made to play Boston United’s U10 – U13 squads at Castle Irwell Student Village on the above date. More details will be published on the weekly newsletter for Friday 23rd October 2009. It should be noted, however, that our U9’s and U10’s will play Boston’s U10’s and U11’s at 8 a side whist our U11’s will play their U12’s in an 11 a side game. Our U12’s will play their U13’s. This will also be an 11 a side game. Our U13 – U16 squads are away to Bolton Wanderers on this date. The U15/U16 will play a combined fixture. Player of the Month Presentation Please note that the first player presentation of the season will take place on Saturday 24th October 2009 at half time during the fixture against Accrington Stanley. As is the usual practice on these occasions, players will be entitled to a free ticket together with an accompanying adult on production of the player pass. Any additional members of the party will have to pay the normal price of admission. The winners of the award in each age group will be notified in advance by letter and/or telephone. Players who are due to receive awards should meet Colin McLaren at the corner of the WMG Stand at the beginning of the half time interval. NB Please note that tickets will not be issued to players or parents for this presentation unless the player is able to produce his Centre of Excellence Player Pass. Coaching and Training Arrangements The Soccer Factory, Silk Street, Rochdale at the following times: Tuesday 6:00pm – 7:30pm U9/U10/U11/U12 6:00pm – 7:30pm GK U9 – U12 St Mary’s RC Primary School, Wood Street, Langley, Middleton at the following times: Tuesday 5:30pm – 7:00pm U13/U14 7:00pm – 8:30pm U15/U16 Matthew Moss High School, Matthew Moss Lane, Rochdale at the following times: Friday 5:00pm – 6:15pm U9/U10/U11 GK U13 – U16 6:15pm – 7:30pm U12/U13/U14 7:30pm – 9:15pm U15/U16 PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CLUB HAS BEEN REQUESTED BY MATTHEW MOSS HIGH SCHOOL TO ENSURE THAT PARENTS AND PLAYERS DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 4:45PM ON A FRIDAY EVENING. THE SCHOOL USE THE ASTROTURF UP TO THIS TIME MOST WEEKS AND WISH TO AVOID ANY ISSUES RELATING TO CHILD PROTECTION, WHICH MAY ARISE IF PARENTS ARRIVE ANY EARLIER. Parents Consultation Evening Please note that the next consultation evening will be held on Monday 30th November 2009 in the Studds Bar from 5:30pm. More details will be published in due course. Centre of Excellence Fixtures 2009/10 Please note that there is a mistake on the fixture list which has previously been handed out. It states that our Centre of Excellence fixture are due to play Preston North End on Saturday 5th December 2009. The fixture date should in fact read Sunday 6th December 2009. Please make a note of this in order to avoid any confusion at a later date. Castle Irwell Student Village Please note that the University of Salford’s Student Union no longer manage the facilities at Castle Irwell. The site is now managed by the University authorities. As a result of this change, the facility will not be open until 09:30am and should close at 12:30pm. This means that nets and corner flags will need to be erected on arrival and games will need to kick off on time. Any delay in the kick off will mean that playing time may have to be reduced in order to stay within this time frame. Please contact Colin McLaren if you have any queries regarding this arrangement. Reporting Absences from Training or Matches At the request of the Parents Association, the club has been asked to provide a tear off slip to enable you to inform any of the coaching staff if your son will unable to attend a training session or a match for any reason.
