| Dale’s youth team played Preston North End last night in the Lancashire Youth Cup Semi Final, unfortunately dale were defeated by the Preston side 3-2 but it was a very good and close game. Dale’s goals for the youth team were scored by Reece Gray at 21 minutes with a great move from a cross off Josh Brizell and Dennis Sherriff in the 65th minute with half a volley into the top corner. We catch up with boss Chris Beech who gives his views on the game and stated “overall to boss possession and chances to score until the last 10 minutes of the 90 minutes played is commendable to the development of the youth section. To come off losers after that display is very hard to take in especially after it being very similar to our previous game. Extra time and a poor decision cost us the tie, from being +1min of winning the game to now being knocked out of the Cup is very disappointing, but to see both staff and the players giving there all and doing it right, gives me great satisfaction. We wish Preston well in the Lancashire Youth Cup Final and commend them for their perseverance in getting through this tie.
