| With the youth team now 9 games into the season, we caught up with boss Chris Beech, as he gave his assessment on the game against Macclesfield Town. Dale’s youth team had a 2-1 defeat away at Macclesfield on Saturday 3rd October in the Youth Alliance Cup Round 1, which was very frustrating as they gave an excellent performance. Dale’s goal was scored by Helio Andre in the 11th minute. Chris Beech says “writing up my notes on Sunday morning I still felt frustrated witnessing an absolute excellent performance from back to front, yet being on the end of a negative result and to find ourselves out of the Youth Alliance Cup. The football which was played on the day is a measure of where the youth team was 2years ago entering into this role and where we stand today as that is a massive improvement in all areas. Fast, creative possession orientated Macclesfield couldn’t deal with us, but to be fair to them they kept going and scored 2 goals of 2 mistakes. A really good lesson for our lads and repeating the words of Barack Obahma this week near winning the Olympic Bid “sometimes in spirit you play a good game but don’t always win”. 29 shots at the goal and 20 on target, their goalkeeper needs praising for an excellent performance.
