Youth team supremo Chris Beech gave some of his "senior players" a little more responsibilty these weekend as they played Colne in a friendly. He explains the how and why here:- " At the start of the season the Football League run what are called "in service" days which are designed to improve anything around what you are doing which can on the field or on with your coaches, psychologists, admin staff or anything that you can think of. With it being a Bank Holiday we cancelled it until later in the season but we had the PFA booked with the lads for them to do their coaching badge where they are basically trying to become level 2 coaches." " At the end of the week we had a free fixture so we organised a game against Colne Under 18's and what I did as a bit of a twist, is let 4 of the regular starters become manager, assistant manager ,coach and stats man. It was intriguing to see and I "scenario set" by saying that I had bought the club and recruited Tony Ellis as Director of Football. He in turn recruited Callum Byrne as the manager and the rest of the staff. I did my Abramovich bit by picking the team and let them get on with it. Dave Doherty (below) was doing the stats but put himself on and scored a good goal" " It was a good day all round. The half time was interesting, the warm up was correct, the information from the sidelines was good and it was pleasing to stand back and see the things that I work so hard on starting to look like it they are ingrained in the players." " I am a big believer in environment setting and making sure that we do things in a correct manner on and off the field. we have big boundaries of rules and regulations but they are not there to police the players in terms of being like a sergeant major it is to let them know what the boundaries are and ensuring that they live correctly within them.
